Metaplex calls this object a Core asset. It is the Core NFT you mint into a Core collection. This form does not mint compressed NFTs or classic Token Metadata NFTs.

What is Metaplex Core?

Core is a Metaplex NFT program. A collection and its assets are Core accounts, not SPL token mints. Plugins such as royalties and attributes live on the asset when you enable them in this form.

Core asset vs a traditional Solana NFT

A traditional Metaplex NFT is a token mint plus a metadata account. A Core asset is one account. Wallets that support Core show it as an NFT. Marketplaces and indexers that only read Token Metadata will not see it the same way.

How to create a Core NFT here

  1. Create a Core collection if you do not already have one.
  2. Connect the wallet that should sign and pay the fee.
  3. Enter the collection address, name, URI or uploaded image, and the plugins this form offers (royalties, attributes, and the others listed on the form).
  4. Submit and approve the transaction. The new asset address is the Core NFT.

After minting

The owner wallet holds the asset. Update authority can still change metadata until you make it immutable. Use Update Metaplex Core NFT metadata for later edits. Network fees vary. This page does not quote a fixed SOL cost.

Metaplex Core NFT — FAQ

What is a Metaplex Core NFT?
Metaplex Core stores the NFT as a Core asset. The protocol name is Core asset. This page uses “Core NFT” for the same thing: a single asset you mint into a Core collection.
Is this the same as a compressed NFT?
No. Compressed NFTs use Bubblegum and are minted with Create NFT. Core NFTs use Metaplex Core and are minted here, into a Core collection.
Do I need a collection first?
Yes. Create a Core collection first, then mint this asset into that collection address.
